What to do if a light bulb blows? Replace it.

It is the tenant’s responsibility to replace any light bulbs and fluorescent tubes that have blown during the tenancy.

  1. Turn the light switch off and turn the power off to your property at the fuse box.
  2. Remove the light shade if required. Let the bulb cool before touching it.
  3. Take the bulb out of the socket – either unscrew it or push down and twist it.
  4. Screw or push a new bulb into the socket – check that the new bulb is that same wattage and cap type as the blown bulb. New bulbs are available at any supermarket.
  5. Dispose of the blown bulb carefully – in the packaging of the new bulb or in some newspaper.
