Am I responsible for paying for water usage?
Non-Separately Metered Properties
If your property is not individually metered (some units and townhouses), tenants do not have to pay any water charges.*
*Individual metering is subject to change
Separately Metered Properties
If your property has its own water meter but is not water efficient, tenants must pay for any excess water usage. Excess usage is considered to be anything over 40kL per quarter.
Separately Metered & Water Efficient Properties
If your property has its own meter and is water efficient (all appliances and fittings have a 3 star WELS rating or higher), tenants must pay for all water consumption charges. Note: Tenants can never be asked to pay any fixed water supply or sewerage charges.
Paying Water Bills
Any tenants responsible for water consumption charges will be issued with an invoice by our office and will be provided with a copy of the original water bill for their reference.
Tenants will have 30 days to pay their bill.
You can usually just pay this bill with your next rent payment. Please contact the office on 3856 1700 if you have any concerns.
